Sports Injury Clinic

Effective treatment and lasting recovery from sports injuries is built on a thorough understanding of the root cause of the pain. Common sports injuries we see in our Bath clinic include Achilles tendon strains, labral tears, calf & quadriceps tears and muscle strains, patella maltracking, Runner's knee, Jumpers knee, iliotibial band syndrome (ITB tightness), plantar fascia problems, ACL tears, and rotator cuff strains and tears. We can also help with post-fracture and post-operative strength rehabilitation by giving you targeted and graded exercises to gradually reload and strengthen the joints, bones, tendons and surrounding muscles.

You don't have to have a sports injury to come to the clinic! Perhaps you have an occasional niggle and would like to get to the bottom of what is causing it, or simply have a full body assessment of current strength, flexibility, co-ordination and movement patterns to guide your future S&C plans and address any issues and deficits, before they develop into potential injuries. Feel free to call and discuss your requirements.

We offer sports massage and sports taping, whether that's pre- or post event, or just to keep yourself in good condition throughout the season. And if you're interested in increasing your running economy, improving done density and getting the spring back in your step, you could sign up for one of our short plyometrics and run form courses.

During your initial appointment, we'll ask you a range of questions and conduct a thorough physical assessment of the problem area. We'll explain the cause of your pain, and a treatment plan will be tailor-made for your diagnosis.

We Understand Athletes

As a keen runner and triathlete myself, I understand the pressure of knowing you are trying to recover in time for that important race! It's so important to know that your practitioner has an understanding of training cycles, training load and can assess and discuss your current program, if needed.

I'm an England Athletics Endurance Running Coach, and I coach runners and triathletes of all ages, from recreational to top international age-groupers. Having won two World Championships myself, I hope I can empathise with how it feels to be sidelined with a sports injury, and how important it is to you, to get the help you need.

Cranial Osteopathy & Epleys

Exercises tailor-made to help you rebuild strength and resilience. Whether you're returning from injury, rebuilding core strength after a period of inactivity, or just wanting to feel your best, a return to full strength is an essential component of fitness.

Cranial osteopathy can be used for the treatment of headaches, migraine prevention, sinus issues, TMJ pain, and to improve lymphatic drainage. Epleys manoeuvre is used to relieve vertigo, dizziness and balance issues associated with an ear condition called BPPV.

Are you suffering with tight, stiff joints and achey muscles? Joint mobilisation and manipulation improves joint mobility and function and decreases pain levels. It is particularly effective for the relief of many knee and hip problems, low back pain and stiff, tight upper backs and shoulders.

What our patients say

"Marianne helped me greatly after my hip resurfacing to get run fit again and with plenty of exercises and running routines to be able to run 5k without too much trouble" Eugene K, Radstock

"I saw Marianne a few weeks ago because I was having pain on the outside of my knee during long runs. I had seen a few other professionals for this issue but none with specific running knowledge... Since seeing Marianne and doing these exercises, I have had ZERO pain while running! She was absolutely spot on and I couldn't recommend her services enough! She has got me back out running and doing what I love in no time at all and I wouldn't go see anyone else for running related issues from now on!" - Danielle G, Wantage
